The important role of protein separators in aquarium engineering

The aquarium or aquarium is an indispensable element of a modern metropolis. The aquarium project requires a very complex living system to treat the seawater. Its profitability and dynamics are two major characteristics. All marine life requires the support of circulating water treatment equipment at all times. Dynamic water quality changes also require instrumentation for monitoring. The marine aquarium living system equipment represented by a protein separator plays an important role here.


The aquarium generally consists of a domestication pool, a performance pool, a reservoir, and a display cylinder. The systems involved are power systems, filtration systems, sterilization systems, lighting and weak current systems. All systems are organically combined into one, coordinated and mutually restrained.


Taking an ordinary seal show pool water treatment, because the domesticated seal is quite precious, the water (sea water) it lives in is very strict. Not only the temperature, PH, suspended matter and other indicators are required to meet the standard, but also undergo strict ozone disinfection. In the filtration process, it is not enough to rely solely on filtering sand tanks. Filter sand tanks can only filter out suspended solids larger than 100 microns in diameter, and smaller suspensions require a protein separator for processing. If the pool water does not pass these physical filtration procedures, too much suspended matter will foul on the surface of the biochemical filter material, affecting the membrane of biochemical bacteria.


The protein separator is not only equivalent to a rather sophisticated physical filter, but also because it is aerated during the process, so the amount of dissolved oxygen is higher in the water treated by it. The organic suspension in most of the water is filtered out, so that they have no chance to decompose into nitrogen-containing toxic substances, thus paving the way for the next step of biological filtration. At the same time, due to its high dissolved oxygen content, it also creates a high oxygen environment for nitrifying bacteria, which is easier to breed.


If a biological filtration system is added to the Aquarium's living system, the ozone machine should be used with caution. Residues of ozone can kill biochemical bacteria and cause biological filtration to fail. Therefore, either stagger the use time of the two (the interval should be no less than 2 hours, because the half-life of ozone is not more than 1 hour), or install an ozone adsorption device at the rear end of the ozone machine. At present, most of the adsorption devices used in the project use activated carbon to adsorb residual ozone.


Another important issue in the aquarium project is the issue of spare equipment. If the pump is in long-term uninterrupted operation, the failure rate is relatively high, so the preparation of the pump is necessary. Others, such as activated carbon in filter sand tanks, need to be replaced after they are saturated. These consumables should be included in the budget when planning in the early stages.
