As the name suggests, the pump is at the bottom of the water, plus an upper filter box or a container containing various filter materials and biochemical materials on the top. Advantages: safe and durable, power saving, low noise. Disadvantages: At the bottom of the cylinder, the outlet pipe that is sold is a spiral hose, which affects the appearance of the cylinder; the inner wall of the hose is dirty and difficult to clean. However, the hose can be replaced with a rigid tube and an elbow to form a right angle in the cylinder.

Some people think that "upper filtration" is a submersible pump plus an upper filter box. In fact, the "dive" pump and the "dry" pump combined with the filtering method composed of the filter material such as the upper filter box are called "upper filtration".
